There is political uproar in West Bengal over the atrocities committed against the trainee doctor (Kolkata Doctor Murder Case) in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. Many student organizations are protesting against the Mamata government against the atrocities being committed against girls in the state. Meanwhile, the BJP has called for a 12-hour bandh in Bengal on Wednesday in protest against the police action on those who participated in the student society’s march to the state secretariat Navanna on Tuesday. BJP President Sukanta Majumdar announced this. He said that the bandh will be held in the entire state from six in the morning to six in the evening.

Bandh supporters are protesting by standing in front of trains at various stations, due to which long distance train services have also been affected.

Amidst the Bengal Bandh, President Draupadi Murmu has expressed concern over the atrocities committed against the trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. Talking to news agency PTI, she said that on one hand students, doctors and citizens were protesting in Kolkata, on the other hand criminals were roaming in other places. Enough is enough, now something has to be done.
President Draupadi Murmu said that no civilized society can allow such atrocities on daughters and sisters. Society needs honest, unbiased introspection and some tough questions should be asked of itself.
